Are you looking for the perfect way to personalise your Mother’s Day gift this year? Whether it’s your Mum, your grandma, an aunt or another special loved one, the thought you put into their gift will make it memorable.
But what do you get the person who already has everything they want and need? A personalised gift always goes down well, so here are some suggestions from us!
How to Frame Your Prints – Using Books!
Do you remember when you were little and you would always make pasta frames for your kindy photos? We’re taking this DIY framing to a whole new level for Mother’s Day.
Here’s how to make a stunning frame for Mum using something she loves – books.
What you’ll need:
- Books – it’s up to you how many you use!
- Prints of the photos you will be framing
- Craft knife
Before you start you will need to select your book and order your prints.
We picked up our books from the local Vinnies store, but there are so many options. Maybe you could choose Mum’s favourite genre, author or book series. Maybe you could pick a story that you’ve read together.
Just remember that hardcover books will work best for this project.
The size of the books you’ve chosen will change the space you have to work with – think about how many photos you want to use on the page and what size prints you’re using.
Also keep in mind that for this frame style, portrait images will work best.
Don’t forget, when ordering 4×6 prints with us, you can take advantage of our 50 FREE prints each month offer by using the Snapfish app.
Here’s how to create your frames:
Step 1: Take a section of the book to start creating your frame
Open up your book and section out the pages. If you’re just using the book to frame one image, leave a small number of pages at the front of the book and then on the side you’re going to stick your image, take around 20-50 pages (depending on how thick you want your frame to be).
Step 2: Measure and cut your pages
Once you’ve selected the photos and layout in your books, you will need to mark out, measure up and cut away the excess paper so that your prints can be framed.
Step 3: Place your photo and stick down your pages
Once you’ve removed the cut out sections from the book pages, the next step is to stick down your photo.
Once you’ve done this you can stick down the pages that make up your frame. You will need to use enough glue to hold the frame together, we focused on glueing down the longest side of the page.
Once you’ve completed this your frames are ready to go!

Stunning Canvas Print
There are just some photos that need to be seen and your mum probably has a few favourites that she’s never had the chance to put up at home. So why not pick out her favourites and turn them into a stunning canvas print? Or have a little photo shoot with your family especially for the occasion so that mum has something special and memorable from you hanging on her wall.
Matching Photo Mugs
Does your mum channel a Lorelai from Gilmore Girls level of love for caffeine? Then a personalised mug is a pretty safe bet. Why not go that one step further and get matching mugs for the two of you? Keep them at her house and make sure that you use them every time you go and visit.
Add a packet of her favourite tea if you want to go one step further!
